Best Portable Air Purifiers for Hotels and Travel

Portable Air Purifiers for travel, lodging, hotels, Airbnb

Portable air purifiers can be a great solution for a healthy stay on your next trip to a motel, hotel, Airbnb, or relative’s house.

The average person spends 1/3 of their life sleeping. That’s a lot of air you’re breathing in and out and have no control over.

If you’re sleeping somewhere other than your own bed, your nose, mouth, and lungs are subject to the air quality in your motel, hotel, Airbnb, relative, or friend’s place. This air is not always clean - many of us can relate to this, waking up with a stuffy nose after sleeping in someone else’s bed.

Whether you have allergies, want to filter out pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, COVID-19, etc., or just want to rest assured that you’re breathing in clean air during your next hotel stay, Airbnb stay, or trip to grandma’s, portable air purifiers can be a good solution for travel.

Portable air purifiers are lightweight, compact, battery-powered, and help scrub the air in a bedroom or hotel room.

Here are several portable air purifiers that are great for travelling and can easily fit on a table or nightstand next to your bed. We’ve curated this list based to give a variety of features and price points.

POMORON Air Purifier

What we like:

This purifier contains a vessel to add your favorite go-to essential oil to it. So beyond just cleaning the air, this portable air purifier can also be part of your aromatherapy goals.

The POMORON Air Purifier is a good deal, packing a HEPA filter and UV Light Sanitization into a 6” x 6” x 9” footprint. The purifier runs through a power cord and is not battery powered. While this shouldn’t be a problem in a hotel room, it may be inconvenient in places where you don’t have access to a power outlet.

KIKI PURE A1 Mini

Kiki Pure Mini A1 HEPA USB-C Air Purifier

Image: Kiki Pure (kikipure.com)

What we like:

This is the smallest and lowest cost purifier on the list. The KIKI PURE A1 purifier is smaller than cup of coffee (just 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” x 5 1/4”) and costs only $20.

It uses a HEPA filter and scrubs about 100 square feet.

Note, because of its small size, this purifier does not have a battery on board, and relies on a consistent USB-C cable connection to power its fans. However, as many hotels have USB power ports and power outlets next to night stands and work desks, this limitation should not be a big deal.
